TOUR DE FORCE for the second Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride!

Tue 17th July 2012

Not only did the second Haywards Heath Bike Ride attract nearly 1,000 riders, 50 per cent more than last year, it’s also giving £10,000 to its chosen charity – The Yews Community Centre.

In total, over £14,000 was raised by the organisers and individual riders for local and national charities; a truly magnificent achievement by everyone involved.  Riders’ charities included Winston’s Wish, Action for ME, Cancer Research, Help for Heroes, Time4Children, Neuro Foundation and Haywards Heath Purple Pinky Campaign.

Elizabeth Peel, Chairman of The Yews Community Partnership, says: “We are truly grateful to the HHDBA team and all the riders for their generosity.  The Yews is a vital community hub, a home to 26 voluntary groups, and we need all the funding we can get so we can continue to support the many local residents who depend on .our services. ”

Bike ride organiser, Rod Clarke, adds: “We were amazed and delighted that so many more wanted to be involved this year. It was a real ‘tour de force’; a really fun day, lots of money was raised for charity and we’re hoping it created a real sense of community pride and involvement.   It was great that both First Central and The Orchards were so supportive and we’re already planning an even bigger and better one for next year!”
